About the Role
Brookfield Renewable is seeking a consummate professional to join the Financial Reporting and Lender Relations team as a Senior Accountant. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting and Lender Relations, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements (IFRS and U.S. GAAP) and financial-related and operational reporting required under the terms of Brookfield Renewable’s North American subsidiary entity credit and tax equity agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual audited financial statements
- Prepare and review financial-related reporting for lenders, partners, and internal stakeholders, including debt service coverage ratios, cash flow forecasts, operating reports, annual operating plans, etc.
- Interpret complex accounting issues and formulate disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards
- Provide supporting documentation and liaise with external auditors
- Present financial statements to partners on a quarterly basis
Compliance
- Monitor ongoing compliance under existing credit and tax equity agreements
- Analyze new credit and tax equity agreements for reporting obligations and proactively identify potential gaps versus obligations
- Build and maintain working relationships with lenders and partners and provide first-line responses to inquiries
- Prepare and review regulatory compliance forms for governmental entities
Projects
- Proactively identify process inefficiencies and contribute to the design and implementation of process improvements
- Provide ad hoc support to other groups within Brookfield Renewable, as it relates to M&A activities, credit rating review, and credit agreement review
- Contribute to the coaching and development of junior team members
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Four (4) or more years of relevant experience
- Hold or in the process of completing a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA Canada)
- Working knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP
- Motivated, driven, humble and passionate individual
- Willingness to learn and the ability to receive feedback
- Solid analytical abilities combined with being highly detail oriented
- Ability to work independently and also within a team-focused environment
- Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment and to be flexible in adapting to shifting priorities
- Experience working with credit agreements
- Experience working with large, multi-national corporations with numerous and varying reporting requirements
- Nice to have: Knowledge and practical experience with InsightSoftware’s CDM, IBM Cognos Controller, IFS, OneStream, or Microsoft Dynamics 365
Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively. We will reassess the approach on an as needed basis.
